Jan “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed” Brewer’s Holiday DUI Task Force Starts Today

Be careful on the roads this holiday season, Arizona motorists. Aside from the terror of knowing Governor Jan Brewer might be driving home from a Christmas party, there’s also the increased risk of getting stopped for a DUI (unless of course you’re Jan Brewer, in which case you’re apparently free to get as tanked as you want, drive your car into the back of a mini-van, and get away scot-free).
Governor Glug-Glug’s Office of Highway Safety announced today that its holiday task force to round up drunk drivers has commenced.
In other words, while driving drunk is always a bad idea, to do it over the holiday season is a really bad idea because the fuzz will be out in droves looking to nail ya.
The “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed” holiday operation is a collaborative effort by several Arizona cop shops, including the Department of Public Safety, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mesa and Phoenix police departments.
“This holiday season, law enforcement officers will be out in full force looking for drunk and impaired drivers,” says Alberto Gutier, director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. “We want to remind people to enjoy the holiday season, but do so responsibly by ‘Getting a DD…Not a DUI!’”
Despite the tacky catch-phrase, that’s some good advice. A DUI might land you in one of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s jails — and we all know what’s been goin’ down there lately.
